October 1, 2014

Christopher Stewart’s eye for design, detail and craftsmanship is a cut above most contractors and when the customer see’s this they become very excited for Chris to build their deck. People want the best and they want someone who is easy to work with. His passion for building and design are unprecedented and that is why Christopher Stewart is one of the Bay Area’s most sought after deck designer and contractors. He helps families build their dreams.  Chris is passionate about building and design and he believes “Decking is not only architecture but it’s a fashion statement.”

In some cases owning a deck is not always a “need” but it is a “want “and a dream. You could say that they wear the deck and accessories that are individually designed for them. In fact, although Chris does offer 3D design and CAD, he still prefers the preliminary drawings to be done by hand because it allows him to become more personal and creative with the design. Some customers literally go into their 401k or they borrow against a loved one’s trust because they “want” for Chris to create their dream so badly.

Custom built-in benches, table tops, planters, arbors, trellises, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, custom lighting and outdoor furniture not to mention patio covers are some of the major accessories for decks.

Every deck is a unique new adventure and each customer is so different. Chris enjoys designing and working with each new customer just as they are so excited about the work that he is about to do for them. Chris is creating their dream, you could say.

In addition to helping build dreams, Christopher Stewart has won 7 international design awards for Spa surroundings i.e., decks from 1998 to 2012 with Sundance and Jacuzzi hot tubs. Chris has been a spokesperson for HRC Redwood.

HRC who owns 80% of the Redwood in the United States have used Chris and his decks in their commercials including a $750,000 commercial campaign in which one of his decks was used. Hungry Man Productions, the number one commercial production company in the United States was behind this huge production. He is the only contractor featured in their world wide brochure.

Chris has built bridges, custom homes, water parks and many of the Nation’s top decks. “Designing someone’s dream deck and working with the homeowner to build it is one of the most gratifying things I do” said Christopher. His website with over three hundred pictures of his custom work speaks for itself. His keen eye for detail and stunning craftsmanship is what makes Chris’s designs the couture of the decking industry.

On a related issue, right now real wood is making a big come back as the composites are not holding up. Redwood now makes up over half the decks he builds. South American hardwoods which are comparable to mahogany or teak are also very popular. In fact 1/3 of the decks built and designed by Christopher Stewart right now are South American Hardwood. There is a true art to working with this material and few contractors know how to work with it properly. This is just another one of the many reasons Chris’s individually designed decks are in such high demand.

A lot of people don’t view working with wood as being “green”.  When Chris uses wood, it is a harvested renewable resource and he always recycles when possible.

Christopher Stewart has over 30 years of experience designing and building. His passion helping families build their dreams is impressive. The most discriminating home owner looking to build their dream deck is in the right hands with Christopher Stewart. His beautiful work can be viewed at awardwinningdecks.com.
